Used Car Listing

The perfect used car listing gives car buyers every fact they need to decide, in the order they look for it: a clear title, honest photos, the key details, a short description and a realistic price. A good listing brings fewer time-wasting calls and more serious buyers, because people know what they are getting before they contact you.

This guide shows how to write a car listing that works on UAE listing sites, from the title and photos to the description and price, plus a full example you can adapt.

Write for the buyer, not for yourself

Buyers scroll through dozens of cars in a few minutes. They decide whether to open your ad from the title, the first photo and the price, then decide whether to call from the details and description. Every part of the listing should answer one of their questions: is this the car I want, is it in good condition, can I trust the seller, and is the price fair?

Buyers in the UAE have a few extra questions: is it GCC specs, has it had an accident, is there service history, and does the AC work well. If your listing answers these up front, you will get fewer repeated questions on WhatsApp.

How to write a car listing title

A good car listing title includes the year, make, model, trim and one or two selling points, in that order. Buyers search and filter by make and model, so these words also help your ad appear in results.

Weak titleStrong titleWeak title
Car for sale urgent2020 Toyota Land Cruiser GXR V6, GCC, full service historyCar for sale urgent
Very good condition Nissan2019 Nissan Patrol LE Platinum, GCC, one owner, 95,000 kmVery good condition Nissan
BMW cheap2018 BMW 530i M Sport, agency serviced, accident freeBMW cheap

Avoid words like "urgent", "cheap" or "best price" in the title. They don't help buyers find your car and can make them think something is wrong with it.

Used car listing photos: what to shoot

Photos decide whether a buyer opens your ad. Take them in daylight, in an open space, with the car clean inside and out. Shoot from slightly below eye level and avoid harsh midday sun, which hides colour and shows every reflection.

Aim for 15 to 25 photos, in this order:

  1. Front three-quarter view (your main photo)
  2. Rear three-quarter view, then each side
  3. Front and rear straight on
  4. Wheels and tyres, close enough to show the tread
  5. Driver's seat and dashboard, with the engine on so no warning lights show
  6. Odometer showing the mileage
  7. Front seats, rear seats and the boot
  8. Infotainment screen, cameras and any special features
  9. Engine bay
  10. Any scratches, dents or damage, photographed clearly

Showing damage sounds like a bad idea, but it saves you from buyers who drive across town and walk away when they see a dent you didn't mention. It also makes the rest of your photos more believable.

Blur or cover the number plate if you prefer, and keep your Mulkiya, Emirates ID and personal items out of every picture.

Details every listing should include

Most listing sites have fields for the basics. Fill in every one, because buyers use filters, and an empty field can hide your car from their search.

How to write the car ad description

Your car ad description should be short, factual and easy to scan. Start with the most important facts, then condition, then anything that makes the car stand out. Three short paragraphs or a list of key points is enough. Long stories about why you're selling rarely help.

A simple structure that works

  1. Summary line: spec, owners, service and accident status in one sentence.
  2. Condition: what is in good shape, and any known issues stated plainly.
  3. Recent work: new tyres, battery, brakes or a recent major service, with the date or mileage.
  4. Features: the options buyers search for, such as sunroof, 360 camera or adaptive cruise control.
  5. Practical details: where the car can be viewed, whether the price is negotiable, and how to contact you.

Words that help and words that hurt

Specific words help: "agency serviced every 10,000 km", "new tyres in March 2026", "no accidents on record". Vague words hurt: "excellent condition", "like new", "must see". Every seller writes those, so buyers ignore them. Replace each vague word with a fact.

Example of a strong used car listing

Title: 2020 Toyota Camry GLE, GCC, full agency service, 68,000 km

Description: GCC-spec Camry GLE, one owner, full agency service history with every service stamped. No accidents. Mileage is 68,000 km, mostly highway.

Condition is good inside and out. A small scratch on the rear bumper is shown in the photos. AC is strong and was serviced in June 2026. Four new tyres were fitted in April 2026.

Features include a sunroof, leather seats, reverse camera, blind spot monitor and Apple CarPlay. Mulkiya valid until March 2027, no traffic fines. Price is slightly negotiable for serious buyers. Viewing in Dubai, WhatsApp only please.

This example is short, but a buyer knows almost everything they need before they message. That is the goal.

Set the right asking price

Price your car against listings of the same model, year, trim, spec and similar mileage. Remember that online listings show asking prices, not selling prices, so many cars sell for less than they are advertised. If your car has something the others don't, such as full agency history or a remaining warranty, you can price slightly higher and say why in the description.

Leave a little room for negotiation, because most UAE car buyers expect to negotiate. But don't start far above the market. Overpriced cars get views and no calls, and by the time you drop the price the ad looks stale.

If you are unsure, an in-person car valuation from a buyer gives you a realistic number to work from.

Prepare before you publish

  • Check your traffic fines and pay them, because the transfer can't happen while fines are outstanding.
  • Get a bank clearance letter if the car is financed, or at least know the process with your bank.
  • Collect your service records so you can send them when buyers ask.
  • Check your Mulkiya is valid and the technical inspection is planned if the car is older than 3 years.
  • Clean the car properly before photos and viewings.

Handle buyer messages safely

A good listing attracts real buyers, but it also attracts scammers. Use the listing site's chat or WhatsApp rather than giving out personal details. Ignore buyers who offer more than your asking price without seeing the car, send payment links, or ask for codes sent to your phone. Meet in a public place, go along on test drives, and only complete the ownership transfer after the full payment is in your account.

Common used car listing mistakes

  • Using dark, blurry or night-time photos
  • Leaving out the mileage or the spec
  • Writing "excellent condition" instead of real details
  • Hiding damage that buyers will see anyway
  • Pricing far above similar cars
  • Not replying quickly, so buyers move to the next car

When a listing isn't the right choice

Listing your car to sell your car online in the UAE can get a good price, but it takes time: photos, messages, viewings, test drives, negotiation and the transfer. If your car has high mileage, damage or finance, or you simply need to sell quickly, private buyers can be slow to commit. In that case, selling to a car-buying company is often simpler.

Frequently Asked Questions

Aim for 15 to 25 clear daylight photos covering the outside, inside, wheels, odometer, engine bay and any damage. Listings with more photos usually get more serious messages and fewer basic questions.
